- Scottish Socialist Party – this organisation has open factions within it, known as “platforms”, the leading platform is the International Socialist Movement (formerly known as Scottish Militant Labour)

- Socialist Labour Party – its General Secretary is Arthur Scargill, President of the National Union of Mineworkers

- Democratic Left – formerly known as the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB); they changed their name after the collapse of “communism” in the USSR and Eastern Europe and don’t appear to have a website
- Communist Party of Britain – a split-off from the original CPGB, linked to the Morning Star newspaper
- (Provisional Central Committee of the) Communist Party of Great Britain – formerly a group that operated within the original CPGB known as “The Leninist”; its Weekly Worker newspaper contains a lot of information about goings on within the British left (some of it more accurate than others)
- Revolutionary Communist Group – they produce a newspaper called Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! and concentrate on the issue of freedom for Palestine
